Questions

Common questions

What is the best driving route planner?

It depends on what you want. Google Maps is the best navigator, calimoto and Kurviger are strong curvy route generators for riders, Roadtrippers is built for American sightseeing trips, and Drivers Atlas is built for drivers who care about the quality of the road itself, the stay at the end of it and the people they drive with.

Is Drivers Atlas free?

Yes. Membership is completely free, including the planner, the road library, group tours and the forum.

Does Drivers Atlas replace Google Maps?

No, and it is not meant to. Drivers Atlas finds and builds the route, then hands it to Google Maps for turn by turn navigation, or exports it as GPX for a Garmin or head unit.

How is the driving quality score worked out?

Each road in the library is scored on corners, surface, scenery, traffic and the sense of occasion, so you can compare a Welsh B road against an Alpine pass on the same scale.
